London - British police conducted searches Friday at the former residence of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, a day after the royal was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The investigation is linked to revelations from documents concerning Jeffrey Epstein.

Thames Valley Police confirmed ongoing searches at the royal's Windsor estate. Mountbatten-Windsor was detained for nearly 12 hours on Thursday before being released under investigation. Police also searched his new residence at King Charles III's Sandringham Estate.

The arrest was not related to his encounters with young women linked to Epstein, but rather to allegations that he shared confidential U.K. government information with Epstein and others. At the time, Andrew served as an official trade representative for the British government.

Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing. King Charles III stated that "the law must take its course." If convicted of misconduct in public office, he could face a life prison sentence.
