Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced Wednesday that the United States and Iran, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire "everywhere," including Lebanon. Sharif stated that his government mediated the agreement to halt weeks of fighting.

Islamabad will host delegations from both nations on Friday for negotiations aimed at a conclusive peace agreement. Sharif expressed hope for the success of these "Islamabad Talks" and the achievement of sustainable peace.

The announcement follows a two-week ceasefire agreement between Tehran and Washington, just before a US deadline to retaliate against Iran was set to expire. Pakistan has served as a communication channel between the two countries amid escalating tensions. The conflict, which began with strikes following the death of Iran's supreme leader, had drawn in Hezbollah in Lebanon and led to Israeli military actions.
