Colorado Democratic Congressman Jason Crow, a House Intelligence and Armed Services Committee member, sharply criticized the U.S. military campaign against Iran during a March 22, 2026 “Face the Nation” interview.
Crow called the operation an “unauthorized war,” noting the administration bypassed Congress despite no imminent threat justifying presidential action. He cited $20 billion spent in two weeks-$1.5 billion daily-and rising energy costs for Americans.
“The Department of Defense can’t even pass an audit,” Crow said, rejecting calls for additional war funding. He referenced a $150 billion Pentagon “slush fund” approved by House Republicans last summer and warned of a proposed $1.5 trillion defense budget.
On the federal funding lapse, Crow blamed Senate and House Republicans for blocking Democratic-backed bills to restore pay for TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA, and cybersecurity personnel-critical amid heightened threats from Iran’s cyber capabilities.
“Republicans are in control of every facet of government,” he insisted. “They own this shutdown.”
