Nine people have been killed and at least 28 injured in the latest round of Russian drone attacks across Ukraine, local officials report. The central Dnipropetrovsk region was hit hardest, with eight fatalities and 11 injuries on Tuesday. One casualty was reported in the eastern Donetsk region. In total, 14 regions came under attack.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday morning that more than 100 Russian drones were currently over Ukraine, warning of "more waves" of attacks throughout the day. He accused Moscow of purposely targeting railway infrastructure and civilian facilities.
The attacks come just after a three-day US-brokered ceasefire expired late Monday. Both sides reported violations along the frontline during the truce, but no major aerial assaults occurred.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, regional head Oleksandr Hanzha reported over 30 Russian attacks on three districts Tuesday, killing two in Zelensky's hometown of Kryvyi Rih and six in the Synelnykove district. More than two dozen houses were damaged.
Ukraine's air force said Russia launched 139 drones in the past 24 hours, with 111 shot down or intercepted but 20 direct hits recorded in 13 locations. Meanwhile, the Russian defence ministry reported intercepting 286 Ukrainian drones over 14 regions and Crimea since Tuesday evening.
