A Russian LNG tanker caught fire and sank off the coast of Libya following sudden explosions. All 30 crew members were rescued unharmed.
The Arctic Metagaz tanker experienced "sudden explosions followed by a massive fire, which ultimately led to its complete sinking" on Tuesday night, according to the Libyan port authority. The wreckage occurred approximately 130 nautical miles north of the port of Sirte.
The vessel, believed to be part of Russia's shadow fleet evading sanctions, had issued distress calls. Russia's transport ministry accused Ukraine of attacking the tanker with naval drones.
