BBC journalists witnessed RAF defensive operations over Cyprus and Jordan as part of ongoing missions against Iranian drones.
The RAF Voyager tanker, acting as a mobile fuel depot, supported multiple refueling operations for Typhoon and F-35 jets. These jets have been conducting nightly patrols since the U.S. and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran.
During one nine-hour mission, jets refueled seven times, totaling 30 tonnes of fuel. Fighter pilots described targeting low-flying Iranian drones-a risky maneuver due to terrain and proximity to other aircraft.
The RAF has deployed eight Typhoon jets and eight F-35s at RAF Akrotiri. Additional defenses include Wildcat helicopters, Merlin radar systems, and HMS Dragon naval destroyer support.

A drone struck a U.S. Air Force hangar on the second night of hostilities, prompting enhanced air defenses. Despite criticism, officials insist robust preparations are in place.
General Tom Bewick, commander of British Forces Cyprus, noted the base could be attacked again but emphasized current protection levels are at maximum.

The UK continues reinforcing its presence while acknowledging prolonged defense responsibilities. RAF jets have paused counter-ISIS missions to prioritize this role.
