US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says American and Iranian negotiators have a 'pretty solid thing on the table' and a deal to end the war could be reached as soon as Monday.

'We're still a work in progress,' Rubio said Monday in New Delhi, India. He noted communication with Tehran is slow because Iran's supreme leader-injured in an Israeli strike-is in an undisclosed location, making coordination with envoys difficult.

The emerging deal reportedly includes a 60-day ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz-through which 20% of the world's oil passes-and a framework for further talks on Iran's nuclear program. Oil prices fell sharply and Asian stock markets rose on optimism.

The potential agreement has divided Trump's Republican allies. Senator Ted Cruz called it 'a disastrous mistake,' and Lindsey Graham warned it could undermine U.S. gains. Trump responded on Truth Social: 'If I make a deal with Iran, it will be a good and proper one.'

Under the reported terms, Iran may eventually hand over its highly enriched uranium-stockpiled at nearly 440kg-to ensure it cannot develop a nuclear weapon. Tehran insists its program is peaceful.
