Russia unleashed a massive barrage of hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles across Ukraine overnight Thursday, striking the capital Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro. Authorities reported at least 16 people killed and scores injured in what is being described as one of the deadliest attacks on Ukraine.

In Kyiv, four people including a child died, and at least 50 were wounded. Damage was reported in residential buildings, a hotel, and an office complex. Fires ignited from fallen debris.

The southern port city of Odesa saw nine fatalities and at least 11 injured, with a high-rise residential building suffering direct hits, leading to the destruction of some apartments. Port infrastructure and warehouses were also damaged.

Dnipro sustained heavy fire, resulting in at least two deaths and dozens of injuries as buildings in residential areas caught fire.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strikes on civilian targets, stating they demonstrate Russia's lack of deserving any global policy normalization or sanctions relief. He emphasized the need for continued pressure on Russia and full delivery of promised military assistance to Ukraine.
