Saudi Arabia confirmed Thursday that recent attacks by Iran on its energy infrastructure have killed one person and disrupted oil production. The strikes targeted facilities for oil and gas production, transport, refining, and petrochemical plants across Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and Yanbu.
An energy ministry official reported one Saudi national was killed and seven others injured. The attacks disrupted key production operations. One pumping station on the vital east-west pipeline was hit, reducing pumping capacity by 700,000 barrels per day. The Manifa and Khurais production facilities were also affected, cutting the kingdom's capacity by an additional 600,000 barrels per day.
Refineries in Jubail, Ras Tanura, Yanbu, and Riyadh, as well as gas processing facilities, were also targeted, impacting global exports of refined products. Saudi Arabia is the world's leading crude exporter, producing over 10 million barrels per day.
