A second trial in a widening sexual abuse scandal in Paris after-school care begins Tuesday. David G., 35, faces charges of sexually assaulting five children aged three to five and sexually harassing two colleagues. The alleged incidents occurred between September 2024 and April 2025 at the Alphonse-Baudin school. The City of Paris suspended him immediately when alerted, and he was never reinstated. He was placed in police custody on June 24 and denies all charges.

"As far as I'm concerned, nothing happened," David G. told the press last November. "There was no intimate contact with the children." The case surfaced after parents of two girls noticed behavioral changes. An investigation revealed children reported he touched their private parts. Colleagues said he "carried the little ones in his arms too often" and "stayed too long in the toilet with them." David G. admits breaking staff rules, including placing children on his lap. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a €150,000 fine.

Support groups are rallying outside the Paris Magistrates' Court, calling for mandatory child protection training and an independent observatory of school violence. Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire has suspended 78 staff members since the scandal emerged, including 31 on suspicion of sexual violence. A €20 million action plan was adopted in April, including a new listening and reporting unit and a Children's Center for victims. The scandal has spread beyond Paris, with 16 staff at a public nursery school in the 7th arrondissement held in custody for alleged rape and excessive behavior.
