A Swedish court sentenced a 61-year-old man to four years and five months in prison on Tuesday for the aggravated pimping of his wife over a three-year period.
The court found the man initiated the operation and handled its administration, ruthlessly exploiting the plaintiff. The case, which identified approximately 120 sex buyers, has shocked the nation.
Prosecutors stated the woman harbored a serious fear of her husband, who threatened her by saying a 'monster would be released' if she angered him. The court established he coerced her into performing sexual acts, broadcasting them online, and soliciting additional buyers through prolonged nagging and condescending language.
While the court dismissed eight rape charges due to questions regarding the voluntary nature of the acts, it convicted 28 of the 29 individuals charged with purchasing sex. The trial drew significant publicity and comparisons to the Gisèle Pelicot case in France.
