A synagogue in the eastern Belgian city of Liege was damaged early this morning by an explosion. Authorities have described the incident as an "antisemitic" attack.
The blast, which occurred around 4 a.m. local time, shattered windows of the synagogue and a nearby building. Images circulating online show damage to the synagogue's front door. No injuries were reported.

Liege's mayor called the act "unacceptable" and suggested conflicts were being "imported" into the city. Police have not yet confirmed the cause but stated the blast involved an "intentional and targeted" device. Belgium's interior minister condemned the act and stated security measures around Jewish sites would be enhanced.
