Singapore is deeply concerned by recent strikes on Iran and Lebanon, according to Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Faishal Ibrahim. He stated that the failure of diplomacy has escalated regional tensions, with severe consequences for civilians, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
Singapore is monitoring the situation closely and supports de-escalation efforts, the protection of civilian lives, and respect for international law. The minister emphasized prayers for the safety of innocent people and for calm and wisdom to prevail, also remembering the plight of Palestinians and the need for a peaceful resolution.
These statements follow a significant military escalation involving Israeli missile strikes on Iran, reportedly coordinated with the US. Iran subsequently retaliated with missile barrages targeting Gulf states and Israel, with explosions reported in the capitals of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE.
