Singapore has denied entry to Malaysian activist and scholar Fadiah Nadwa Fikri, labeling her an "undesirable visitor" for attempting to influence domestic politics. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) stated she encouraged Singaporean youths to engage in disruptive and violent civil protests.
MHA said Fadiah promoted radical advocacy beyond peaceful demonstrations, urging students and communities to mobilize for specific causes through unlawful means. The government emphasized it will not tolerate foreign interference in its internal affairs.
Fadiah, a recent PhD recipient from the National University of Singapore, claimed she was deported on March 22 after arriving to deliver a guest lecture at her former supervisor’s invitation. She also intended to collect her degree certificate and visit friends.
She posted online that ICA refused to disclose grounds for the ban, citing only that she was "ineligible for the issue of a pass under current immigration policies."
