Saskatoon has seen a sharp 30 per cent increase in its homeless population over the last year. New data released by the City of Saskatoon indicates that 1,931 individuals experienced homelessness in 2025, a substantial rise from 1,499 in 2024. This number is more than 3.5 times higher than recorded in 2022, signaling a persistent upward trend.

The point-in-time count, conducted on October 16, 2025, by the city in partnership with local organizations and over 250 volunteers, aimed to capture a snapshot of individuals in emergency shelters, transitional housing, unsheltered locations, and those experiencing hidden homelessness.

Among those counted, 219 were children under 12, and 209 were youth aged 13 to 24. Nearly 83 per cent of individuals identified as Indigenous. The data provides critical insights for resource allocation and program impact assessment as the city grapples with the escalating crisis.
