SINGAPORE - An 18-year-old is under arrest after police say he assaulted Amos Yee, the 27-year-old controversial YouTuber recently deported from the United States, at Suntec City Convention Centre on Saturday.
Police responded to a call at about 2:15 p.m. Officers found Yee with minor injuries. The teen was arrested for causing public nuisance. Investigations are ongoing.
Videos of the incident, which occurred outside the Doujin Market anime convention, show the teen, dressed as a cosplayer, punching, kicking, and elbowing Yee as he crouched on the floor. The pair separated, then the teen tackled Yee from behind. A bystander stopped the fight.

Organizers of Doujin Market, Neo Tokyo Project, said Yee was banned from the event over safety concerns. The fight occurred elsewhere in the mall. They condemned the violence.
Yee left Singapore for the US in 2016 after two jail terms for religious comments. He was granted asylum but later convicted in the US on child pornography and grooming charges, serving time before a parole violation. He was deported back to Singapore in November 2025 and now faces charges under the Enlistment Act for dodging National Service.
