Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will face trial at the International Criminal Court after judges confirmed charges of crimes against humanity over his "war on drugs".
Pre-trial judges unanimously confirmed all charges against Duterte, committing him to trial. He will be the first Asian former head of state to face the ICC.
The 81-year-old's defence team stated he is too weak mentally to follow proceedings, and he did not appear at hearings to assess the charges.
Pre-trial judges found substantial grounds to believe Duterte is responsible for crimes against humanity including murder and attempted murder.
