U.S. President Donald Trump threatened widespread destruction of Iran’s energy resources and vital infrastructure on Monday unless a deal to end the war with Tehran is reached soon.

In a social media statement, Trump noted “great progress” in talks but warned that failure to reopen the strategic Hormuz Strait would result in broader offensive operations. He specified targets including Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells, and Kharg Island, stating the U.S. would “completely obliterating all” such facilities.

On the ground, hostilities intensified as Tehran struck a water and electrical plant in Kuwait, while an oil refinery in Israel came under attack. Israel and the U.S. launched a new wave of strikes on Iran, though the status of diplomatic efforts facilitated by Pakistan remains unclear.

Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that the U.S. was negotiating directly and indirectly with Tehran. He indicated the administration has approximately 3,000 targets identified for potential strikes but emphasized that a deal could be made quickly. In a Financial Times interview, Trump expressed a preference to seize Kharg Island, the terminal for nearly all Iranian oil exports.

Regional instability has sent oil prices skyrocketing, with Brent crude trading around $115, up nearly 60 percent since the conflict began in late February. Iran’s Foreign Ministry acknowledged receiving a 15-point proposal from Washington, though no direct negotiations have occurred yet. Casualty estimates now exceed 1,900 in Iran and 13 U.S. service members have been killed in the war.
