The United Arab Emirates is investigating a drone strike that triggered a fire near its only nuclear power plant.
The defense ministry says three drones entered from the western border on Sunday. Two were intercepted, but the third struck an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi.
No injuries were reported, and officials confirm no impact on radiological safety. The UN's nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, called the incident a matter of 'grave concern.' Director General Rafael Grossi stated that military activity threatening nuclear safety is unacceptable and urged restraint near such facilities.
The UAE has not identified the source of the drone. It has previously accused Iran of attacking its energy infrastructure since the regional conflict began in February.
