Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha accused Russia of violating a unilateral ceasefire on Wednesday, saying Moscow launched 108 combat drones and three missiles at Ukrainian cities.

Sybiha condemned the Kremlin’s earlier offer of its own ceasefire for May 9-the date of Russia’s annual World War II victory parade-as a cynical ploy. “This shows Russia rejects peace,” he wrote, calling on allies to impose new sanctions and ramp up military support.

Moscow had ordered a scaled-back parade this year, fearful Ukrainian strikes could target military hardware on display. Ukraine responded with its own ceasefire proposal, but Russia’s continued air strikes suggest a rejection of that offer.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned Kyiv would “act reciprocally” if Moscow did not take real steps toward peace. Ukrainian forces already demonstrated reach deep into Russia, hitting a military-industrial plant in Cheboksary, 1,000 km inside Russian territory, using domestically-made Flamingo cruise missiles.
