US and Israeli strikes targeting Iran have severely disrupted air travel across the Middle East and beyond. Several nations, including the UAE and Israel, closed their airspace, leading Qatar Airways to cancel flights. Major carriers like Emirates and Etihad rerouted planes or advised passengers to check flight statuses due to the UAE airspace closure.
Kuwait's international airport experienced a drone strike, causing minor injuries and damage, prompting the suspension of flights to Iran by Kuwaiti carriers. EgyptAir also suspended flights to multiple Middle Eastern destinations due to the escalating situation.
European airlines are also affected. Lufthansa canceled flights to several Middle East destinations, including Tel Aviv, Beirut, Amman, Erbil, and Tehran, until March 7, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi flights suspended until March 1. KLM and ITA Airways have suspended flights to Tel Aviv and are avoiding airspace in several affected countries.
Air France, Polish Airlines LOT, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic have also canceled or suspended flights to and from the region, with Virgin Atlantic rerouting to avoid Iraqi airspace. Turkish Airlines suspended flights to Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Jordan until March 2, and canceled several other regional flights. Air India and various Russian airlines have also suspended flights to Iran and Israel, rerouting to avoid affected airspace.
