The United States has ordered non-emergency staff to depart its embassy in Beirut. This move comes as President Donald Trump escalates threats of potential strikes against Iran.
A senior State Department official stated the measure is temporary, aimed at ensuring personnel safety while maintaining operational capacity and support for U.S. citizens. Approximately 40 embassy personnel departed Beirut's international airport. The embassy itself will continue to operate with essential staff.
The U.S. has reinforced its military presence in the region amid President Trump's threats to attack Iran, demanding concessions on its nuclear program. Iran, which recently suppressed domestic protests, is reportedly set for diplomatic talks with the United States.
