BEIJING: China has enacted export controls on ten US companies tied to defense and rare earth mining, marking a response to a recent US blacklist. This action aims to protect national security and is a direct retaliation against Washington's inclusion of companies allegedly supporting the Chinese military.
The affected firms include Aveox, linked with US military contracts, and Oshkosh Defense, known for military vehicles. Additionally, China's finance ministry has banned 46 US firms, including Lockheed Martin and Boeing's defense division, from public procurement.
These measures come shortly after US President Trump's Beijing visit intended to ease bilateral tensions, overshadowed by the release of a blacklist naming 80 companies involved with the Chinese military.
