A youth hockey referee in Nova Scotia ended a game early this month following a reported "hate-motivated" incident at the Eastern Shore Community Centre. The RCMP stated that a spectator shouted a comment towards the referee on February 6th. The referee stopped the game and asked the individual to leave. No physical injuries were reported.
Police have arrested a 39-year-old man from East Chezzetcook in connection with the event, charging him with mischief. He has been released and is scheduled to appear in court. The RCMP emphasized their commitment to investigating all reports of hate-motivated incidents and crimes, urging the public to report any such behaviour to assist in protecting community well-being.
