Barcelona determined to mega move for Man City superstar

Barcelona are interested in signing Erling Haaland to mark the re-opening of the Nou Camp, according to reports in Spain.

Haaland has enjoyed a superb start to the season, scoring 11 goals in 10 matches in all competitions, so far.

The Manchester City forward is into third year of his contract, which is due to expire in 2027, however, he is attracting interest from the Spanish giants.

Spanish media outlet Sport are reporting that Barcelona president Joan Laporta wants to bring the 24-year-old to Catalonia, despite the club's financial struggles.

The current LaLiga leaders open the doors to the new-look Nou Camp at 60 per cent capacity before the end of the year, and it is believed that Laporta wants to celebrate the occasion with the signing of the Norweigan striker, next summer.

The legendary stadium will hold a staggering 105,000 people when it is fully operational.

Laporta was interested in Haaland while he was at Borussia Dortmund and reportedly held conversations with the late Mino Raiola - the forwards former agent - regarding his signature in 2021.

However, Haaland opted to move to City and won the treble in his first season in Manchester, while also breaking the record for the most goals in a single Premier League season.

Barcelona's interest in the attacker has seemingly remained unwavering, despite his decision to snub them in 2022.

It is believed that Laporta has a strong relationship with Haaland's current agent Rafela Pimenta, which could be key to a deal being struck.

Haaland snubbed Barcelona in 2023, instead signing for City where he won the treble inhis first season

In September, reports in Spain indicated that Haaland was close to signing a new deal at the Etihad.

But suggestions that is the case have quietened in the weeks that have followed as Barcelona's interest grows.
