Bruno Fernandes 'has reached agreement with Man United over new deal'

Manchester United superstar Bruno Fernandes is reportedly set to extend his stay with the club.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Portuguese attacker will sign a new deal that keeps him until June 2027, with the option to stay for another year.

The deal will reportedly bring Fernandes into the wage bracket of United's top earners.

Fernandes had two years to run on a deal he signed in 2022 which saw him earn approximately £240,000 a week.

But his new deal will take him above that figure and more in line with United's top earners such as Jadon Sancho, Casemiro and Marcus Rashford.

Bruno Fernandes will extend his stay at Manchester United through to at least June 2027

Rashford is the club's biggest earner and rakes in around £360,000 a week while Casemiro and Sancho net £350,000 and £300,000 a week respectively.

News of Fernandes' contract brings an end to speculation the Portuguese superstar could have moved on from Old Trafford.

A disappointing eighth-place finish in the 2023-24 Premier League campaign ensured the Red Devils would not compete in Europe this coming season, although an FA Cup victory ensured Fernandes' season ended on a high.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo claimed Fernandes' agent Miguel Pinho had met with representatives from Bayern Munich over a potential transfer in the summer.

New Bayern boss Vincent Kompany had been desperate to make a marquee signing after a season in which the German giants failed to win a single trophy.

However, the reports of Fernandes' new contract puts an end to any talk of a departure from Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old had previously indicated his desire to remain at Old Trafford via a piece in The Player's Tribune.

He wrote: 'I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world. I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream.

Fernandes has been one of Manchester United's best players since signing in 2020

'I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club. If you go talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing. We want to compete for the league. We want to be playing Champions League football. We want to be in cup finals. That is the standard. That is what I want. That is what you all deserve.

'I just want to keep fighting. I want to be here. My family wants to be here.'

Fernandes joined United in January 2020 from Sporting and quickly cemented himself as a fan favourite at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old was also announced as the club's captain in July 2023, replacing England international Harry Maguire.

Since Fernandes' arrival he has made over 230 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 79 goals and providing 66 assists.
