Caoimhin Kelleher insist he's ready to be Liverpool No1

Caoimhin Kelleher has vowed to give Liverpool manager Arne Slot a headache by putting on another man-of-the-match display against Chelsea.

Kelleher defied the Londoners in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in 2022, capping his stellar performance by scoring the winning penalty in the shootout. He also kept another clean sheet when Jurgen Klopp's kids lifted the trophy last season against the same opponents.

Now 25, the Irishman has a chance to further impress at Anfield on Sunday with regular goalkeeper Alisson out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury.

'My intention is to give the manager something to think about, give him a headache maybe.

'If I play so well, how can he take me out, something like that.

'That is where my head is . . . to put some pressure on at least.'

Liverpool have rejected bids from Nottingham Forest for Kelleher this season, but his Anfield future is clouded by the impending arrival of highly-rated Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili next summer.

'I want to be the main keeper, I want to be the No1 playing week in, week out, which is the most important thing,' he added.

'It is nice to be involved in a team competing for stuff and to be around that, but I think every player will say the same, they want to be one of the main players.'
