Chelsea fans rage at match stream error with Blues forced to U-turn

Chelsea fans have been left outraged after the club's stream for their Europa Conference League clash against Servette crashed - forcing the Blues to show the match for free.

Enzo Maresca's side held a 2-0 advantage in the European play-off encounter heading into second-leg tie against the Swiss side, with some Blues fans even making the trip for the clash.

However, those that didn't travel to Switzerland were left with the option of needing to watch the game on the club's stream that prior to the game kicking off came with a cost of £4.99.

With the match not being picked for major televised coverage, fans of the club tuned into Chelsea's official stream, but were quickly greeted with an error message when trying to load the page.

A message prompting 'stream temporarily unavailable' was shown while others weren't even able to view the page as Chelsea were struck by a disastrous technical error.

Fan group the Chelsea faithful were left extremely angry by the failure, posting online: 'Brought the stream earlier now says I don't have it. Tried to log out to log back in and now it won't even let me do that.'

Chelsea's gaffe eventually led to the club taking down the paywall and streaming the match for free after fans complained of the problem that had stopped them from watching the game.

Those that had initially paid for the stream are now expected to be refunded by the club.

Meanwhile, Christopher Nkunku put the Blues in-front of the second-leg clash by scoring from the penalty spot after just 14 minutes.

His strike was then cancelled out by a goal for the hosts to reduce the deficit and overall aggregate to 3-1.

Chelsea will qualify for the group stages of the Conference League if they win on Thursday evening.
