Why Chelsea vs Servette is not on TV plus where to watch it instead

The Blues, two-time champions in both the Champions League and Europa League will make their debut in Europe's third tier club competition, where they will host the Swiss side at Stamford Bridge.

The London residing club are hoping to become the first club to win all three of UEFA's major European trophies.

But first they must overcome Servette in a two-legged play-off to advance to the league stage of the tournament.

Chelsea face Swiss side Servette this Thursday, August 22 in the play-off tie for entry into this season's Europa Conference League tie

Chelsea's first leg play-off tie against Servette will not be shown live on tv.

Instead the game will be shown live on Chelsea's own website and app.

Fans can purchase access to the live stream of the game for £4.99 via the clubs official website and app. To purchase access to the game click here.

Here at Mail Sport, we will also be providing a live blog of the game including pre-game build up, team news plus minute-by-minute updates as the action gets underway.

Despite being a European competition game, the tie will only be available to stream online.

This is because there are no TV rights for the play-off stage of the Europa League or Conference League in the UK. UK broadcasters only have the rights to show Champion League play-off games.

The reason for this is because only the league stage and onwards for the second and third tier European competitions are part of the European broadcast package for UK broadcasters.

However these play-off games can find their way onto TV screens, since the clubs involved are able to sell their broadcasting rights.

But the Blues have opted against this option, instead deciding to show both their play-off legs against Servette on their own website.
