Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), the two largest cryptocurrencies, are enduring their most challenging start to a year on record. Both digital assets are trading significantly below their previous peaks. Bitcoin has fallen approximately 46% from its all-time high, while Ethereum is down about 60% from its peak.

This sharp decline marks historically poor year-to-date performances. In contrast, major US stock indices have seen modest gains since January, with the S&P 500 up around 0.4% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbing 2.3%. Precious metals have also outperformed, with gold surging roughly 17% and silver advancing about 14% this year.

The divergence has led some observers to declare the arrival of a "Crypto Winter." Despite the current pullback, some analysts believe the underlying industry foundation is strengthening and that the market may be nearing a turning point.
