The Ethereum Foundation is injecting $1 million into a new audit subsidy program to support Ethereum mainnet builders. This initiative, part of the Trillion Dollar Security Initiative, aims to make crucial security audits more accessible and affordable for developers. It is a joint effort with audit providers to reduce the financial barrier for essential security reviews, thereby reinforcing the Ethereum ecosystem.

The program partners with Areta Market, Nethermind, and Chainlink Labs, expanding access to professional security assessments for a wide range of Ethereum builders. It specifically targets mainnet teams developing under the Ethereum Foundation's CROPS principles: censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security.

Security audits are a vital best practice in the cryptocurrency space, yet their high cost often hinders smaller or early-stage projects. This subsidy program seeks to alleviate that challenge by assisting selected builders with a portion of their audit expenses.

An expert committee will evaluate applications. Approved projects will receive their subsidy automatically via Areta Market, enabling them to obtain quotes from over 20 participating audit firms, including industry leaders like Certora, Quantstamp, and Hacken, and commence their security audits.

The initiative is designed to bolster Ethereum mainnet's security standards by broadening access to high-quality audits for builders of all sizes.
