OP Labs, the development firm behind the Ethereum layer 2 network Optimism, has reduced its workforce by 20 employees. This organizational restructuring is designed to narrow strategic priorities and streamline decision-making.

CEO Jing Wang stated the move is not financially driven, emphasizing that OP Labs is well-capitalized. The focus is on "doing fewer things well, making decisions faster, and reducing coordination overhead."

Departing employees will receive severance, healthcare continuation, and assistance in finding new roles. Jing Wang is also committed to using her networks to connect displaced workers with opportunities within the blockchain ecosystem.

OP Labs joins a trend of crypto companies adjusting their workforces amid market shifts and evolving strategies. Recent layoffs across the sector are often linked to operational streamlining and shifts toward AI-driven and blockchain-focused initiatives.
