A cryptocurrency investment dispute in South Korea has escalated to attempted murder charges. Prosecutors allege a 39-year-old man poisoned his business partner after a significant Bitcoin investment failed.

Authorities state the accused mixed a banned pesticide, methomyl, into his partner's coffee on November 23rd. The victim collapsed and fell into a coma, regaining consciousness three days later. He is still undergoing medical care.

The two men had been business partners since 2022, managing funds through Bitcoin investments. The relationship reportedly soured when the accused personally invested and lost approximately $811,000 in Bitcoin. Prosecutors believe the accused began planning the attack after his partner took over fund management in September.

The first court hearing is scheduled for March 10th. This case highlights a concerning rise in crypto-related violent crimes globally.
