Coinbase has launched full stock trading access for all eligible users in the United States. This significant expansion allows customers to buy and sell US stocks and ETFs directly within their existing Coinbase account, alongside their cryptocurrency holdings.
The new service facilitates 24/5 trading on thousands of equities with zero commission, operating through Coinbase Capital Markets. Users can fund these trades using USD or USDC and are able to purchase fractional shares starting at just one dollar.
In a strategic partnership, Coinbase is integrating with Yahoo Finance. This collaboration streamlines the process for users, enabling them to move from researching assets on Yahoo Finance to executing trades on Coinbase with a single click. Yahoo Finance will also feature real-time data from Coinbase.
Coinbase states this move aligns with its vision of an "Everything Exchange," bridging traditional financial markets with digital assets. The company intends to broaden 24/5 trading to more equities and is exploring tokenized stocks for future offerings.
Currently, stock trading is restricted to US residents via Coinbase Capital Markets brokerage accounts. The platform supports market and limit orders, with fractional trading available for select assets during standard market hours.
