Britain's cross-party Treasury Committee is demanding answers from Lloyds Banking Group following a digital glitch that allowed some customers to view others’ account transactions.

Committee chair Meg Hillier called the incident an 'alarming breach of data confidentiality' in a letter to CEO Charlie Nunn dated March 17. She requested details on the cause, timeline, exposed data, and potential customer compensation.

Lloyds confirmed it investigated and resolved the issue quickly but provided no specifics on how many were affected or what data was seen.

The event underscores growing concerns over digital banking reliability as UK lenders reduce physical branches. Last year, top banks reported over 800 hours of system outages, blocking access to customer funds.
