Tesla UK Sales Drop Sharply, BYD Gains Market Share

Tesla's UK sales plummeted 45.2% in February, with 2,208 vehicles sold. Despite the sharp drop, Tesla's sales still surpassed rival BYD, which saw its sales increase 40.9% to 968 units.

Year-to-date figures for Tesla are down 5%, a trend likely to attract increased scrutiny. The electric vehicle manufacturer faces mounting pressure from Chinese brands like BYD and MG, as its current model lineup struggles to compete.

Tesla's European market challenges extend beyond the UK, with February sales also declining in Italy, Denmark, and Sweden.

Battery-electric vehicles represented 25% of the total UK car market in February. Overall UK car registrations across all fuel types saw a 3.6% increase to 83,377 vehicles during the same period.
