Ben Swanson, a dentist and CEO of drug developer Skeletalis, is pioneering a precision medicine platform to treat osteoporosis. His company's OASIS technology targets drugs directly to diseased bone, aiming to prevent fractures before they occur.

Swanson notes that osteoporosis hides in plain sight; most patients don't know they have it until a fracture, which can be a life-ending event. Current treatments lag behind other medical fields.

Skeletalis is leveraging a new FDA framework (SABRE) to accelerate trials. Swanson calls for earlier screening, like breast cancer mammograms, and sees AI improving bone scan analysis. The goal: shift from reactive treatment to prevention, preserving active lives for women during and after menopause.
