A terminally ill man who postponed a wedding for two decades to provide for his children has finally married his longtime partner.

Dean Pennell, 63, married Kay Beaman, 62, on June 18 at Colchester Hospital in Essex, England. Pennell has terminal cancer and was given only weeks to live.

The couple had been engaged for 20 years but delayed the ceremony to focus on raising their 10 children. The wedding was organized in less than a week by hospital staff.

The event was attended by their family, including their 10 children and 18 grandchildren. Pennell was determined to stand for as much of the ceremony as he could.

The hospital presented the newlyweds with a clock showing the exact time they exchanged vows.
