A new GreenShield survey shows 33 percent of Canadian women wait over two years for menopause care due to various barriers. Common symptoms include fatigue, hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain, and brain fog. Many women struggle with uncertainty about where to seek help, leading to self-research and repeated appointments. Despite recognizing symptoms, only 25 percent receive effective treatment within three months.

Symptoms significantly impact work performance, with some women needing time off or considering leaving their jobs. Just 13 percent report meaningful employer support, while 55 percent receive no support at all. Quebec Liberal MNA Jennifer Maccarone highlighted the need for open discussions about menopause in the workplace, sharing her experience of a hot flash during a parliamentary session.
