FRONTLINE practitioners are worried about public backlash over AI in healthcare, but new data shows the UK public actually supports it most in medical settings.

At the Health + AI Tech Show, experts from Nesta revealed that while 41% of British adults believe AI is dangerous for the public sector, healthcare applications enjoy the highest acceptance-38% support within the NHS.

Aleksandra Berditchevskaia, Principal Researcher at Nesta, noted that frontline staff fear negative reactions because innovation outpaces public comfort. Yet when polled on specific use cases, people see opportunity in AI for health.

Physicians also worry AI could increase workloads. The solution, experts argue, is to integrate clinician feedback into AI tool design from the start. “Design with the people your tools are meant to support,” Berditchevskaia said.
