Former First Lady Jill Biden has revised her account of President Joe Biden's disastrous 2024 debate performance, now stating she feared he was having a stroke. In an interview with CBS, she said: "I don't know what happened… I thought, ‘Oh my God, he's having a stroke,’ and it scared me to death."
A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is blocked or there is bleeding in the brain. Recognizing the signs quickly is critical-1.9 million brain cells die every minute without treatment.
The American Stroke Association advises using the acronym B.E. F.A.S.T. to identify stroke symptoms:
- B - Balance loss
- E - Eye (vision) changes
- F - Face drooping
- A - Arm weakness
- S - Speech difficulty
- T - Time to call 911
Other symptoms include confusion, severe headache, and weakness on one side. Fox News senior medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel warns: do not give aspirin-it may worsen bleeding if that is the cause.
Call 911 immediately. Do not drive yourself. Treatment begins in the ambulance. The CDC notes that 80% of strokes are preventable through managing high blood pressure, diabetes, and atrial fibrillation. One in four survivors will have another stroke within five years.
