Vickie Doogan, 52, experienced a profound connection with her dog, Dolly, as both battled breast cancer. Doogan was first diagnosed at age 39, undergoing extensive treatment. Years later, at 44, she received a second diagnosis and opted for a double mastectomy due to a BRCA2 gene mutation.

While recovering from her second diagnosis, Doogan adopted Dolly, a poochon, who became an inseparable companion. In February 2026, Doogan took Dolly to the vet for an apparent upset stomach, where a lump was discovered. The dog was diagnosed with cancer and underwent a mastectomy.

Remarkably, Dolly recovered quickly, mirroring Doogan's own resilience. Both are now cancer-free, their shared experience offering a story of hope and the power of companionship through adversity.
