Maya Gebala, the young survivor of the Tumbler Ridge, B.C., school shooting, underwent a successful cranioplasty to repair her skull.

Her father, David Gebala, announced the surgery was a success, noting the medical team was thorough to ensure proper outcomes. He said there were no visible signs of a previous infection, but risks remain with the synthetic implant. Maya has developed hydrocephalus again, which may resolve naturally with the cranioplasty. An external ventricular drain is managing pressure changes. Healing is expected over approximately ten days.

David Gebala expressed pride seeing Maya move her hand and leg, squeeze fingers, and look around with curiosity after surgery. Her mother, Cia Edmonds, previously indicated this could be Maya's last needed operation.

The family has accepted an offer from UFC president Dana White to cover specialized treatment costs in the United States.
