LONDON - A deadly meningitis outbreak linked to a nightclub in southeast England has escalated. UK health officials announced Saturday that cases have risen to 34, including 23 confirmed infections.

The epicenter involves Club Chemistry in Canterbury and the University of Kent. Two fatalities have been recorded, involving a university student and a schoolgirl. Authorities have distributed over 11,000 antibiotics and administered more than 5,700 vaccines in the affected region.

The UK Health Security Agency urges clubgoers present between March 5 and 7 to seek medical care. While infection risk between individuals remains low, officials warn of potential sporadic clusters as students return home. One case has already surfaced in France.
