Michael and Susan Dell have reached a significant philanthropic milestone, donating over $1 billion to the University of Texas at Austin. Their latest contribution, a $750 million gift, will establish the UT Dell Medical Center, a planned "AI-native" hospital and advanced research campus. Expected to open in 2030, the facility aims to integrate research, clinical care, and advanced computing to enhance early disease detection, personalize treatments, and expand healthcare access in the Austin region.

The Dells' vision is to create a campus designed for the AI era, fostering opportunities and delivering better outcomes. This substantial gift positions the project among the largest in higher education history. The UT Dell Medical Center will collaborate with MD Anderson Cancer Center to integrate cancer care, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The campus will be built from the ground up with AI integration in mind, a novel approach intended to transform hospital operations.

The project also includes funding for undergraduate scholarships, student housing, and the Texas Advanced Computing Center. Texas Governor Greg Abbott noted the investment will solidify the state's leadership in healthcare innovation. The university plans to break ground later this year and aims to raise $10 billion over the next decade.
