Novo Nordisk has announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI, aiming to streamline its operations from drug discovery through to commercialization. The Danish pharmaceutical giant will utilize OpenAI's artificial intelligence technology to analyze complex data, identify potential drug candidates, and optimize manufacturing, supply chains, and distribution.

Mike Doustdar, President and CEO of Novo Nordisk, stated, "Integrating AI in our everyday work gives us the ability to analyze datasets at a scale that was previously impossible, identify patterns we could not see, and test hypotheses faster than ever. This means discovering new therapies and bringing them to market faster than ever."

Beyond accelerating drug development, Novo Nordisk plans to use OpenAI's technology to upskill its workforce and improve AI literacy. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, remarked, "This collaboration with Novo Nordisk will help them accelerate scientific discovery, run smarter global operations and redefine the future of patient care."

The partnership is structured with strict data protection, governance, and human oversight to ensure ethical compliance. Pilot programs are scheduled to begin across research and development, manufacturing, and commercial operations, with full integration expected by the end of 2026.
