Ontario health officials are testing a patient for possible infectious diseases, including Ebola, following recent travel to East Africa. The Ministry of Health says tests are being conducted "out of an abundance of caution."

Officials emphasize there are no confirmed cases of Ebola in Ontario and that all infection prevention measures are in place.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned the outbreak in Congo and Uganda is larger than known, with 51 confirmed cases and nearly 600 suspected cases. The WHO declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on Sunday.

Health authorities stress Ebola does not spread easily and that protocols are designed to prevent transmission.
