More than 1,000 passengers remain confined to a UK-operated cruise ship docked in Bordeaux, France, following a gastroenteritis outbreak. Local authorities confirmed 49 cases-48 passengers and one crew member.
Three passengers have been isolated in their cabins aboard the Ambition. Officials stated there is no link to the hantavirus outbreak affecting a different vessel.
Ambassador Cruise Line said enhanced sanitation and prevention protocols have been implemented following the initial reports. The ship departed Belfast on May 8, called at Liverpool, and was bound for Bordeaux.
