Rudy Giuliani says he had a profound spiritual experience while in a coma caused by severe viral pneumonia. The 81-year-old former New York City mayor recounted the event on his online show 'America’s Mayor Live!' after being discharged from the hospital.
Giuliani described a dream-like state where he felt he was 'on line headed for a trial with St. Peter.' He said his lifelong friend, the late Peter Powers, intervened with significant words that he wrote down immediately upon waking.
Giuliani was admitted to the hospital on May 3 in critical condition after developing breathing issues following a trip to Paris. He was placed on a ventilator, and a priest was called to administer last rites before his condition improved.
While not officially classified as a near-death experience, Giuliani’s account aligns with common traits of such events, including encounters with religious figures and heightened awareness.
