Australia's captain Sam Kerr acknowledged the sting of their recent Asian Cup final defeat to Japan, but stressed the experience will bolster the Matildas for next year's Women's World Cup.

Japan secured their third title in four editions with a 1-0 victory. Despite the disappointment, Kerr highlighted the team's qualification for the World Cup as a significant positive.

"It's important, just in the fact that you're going to face different teams in the World Cup," Kerr stated. "The World Cup is getting bigger each time, and you face different teams from all different confederations, so it's important for us to be ready for all types of games."
